Atletico stepped onto the Moscow pitch with a very attacking mindset, keen to win the game despite being away from home.
The deservedly scored three goals, and were the better team by some distance, but Aguirre could only stand and watch as Los Colchoneros conceded some soft goals to undo all the good work.
"A couple of defensive uncertainties have cost us a valuable win," he said after the game.
"To score so many in the first game is not too bad, but to concede three is."
"We controlled the game well, but in three mad minutes, through one corner and another siolated incident, we lost it all," he continued.
"No game is over until it is over, but after scoring three goals, we should have won.
"There are still three games left, two of them at home, and we must simply keep at it."
