
The 1-1 draw against Villarreal, with the Spanish side equalizing in the final seconds of the match, did not go down too well with Fiorentina and especially Fabio Liverani, who still applauded the team's overall performance.
"I did my best to help the team," commented at the end of the game the former Lazio player. "I fought on every ball. There was the desire to do well also against a team who has the ball possession as its best weapon.
"We also scored at least two regular goals," he said referring to the goal disallowed to Adrian Mutu. "We were able to control the entire game, pity about the result.
"Playing every three days is not easy for anyone, but Fiorentina has the right pace both in the league and in the Cup," concluded Liverani.
