Nesta Will End His Career At Milan

Nesta signed for Milan from Lazio in 2002, having been brought up through the Biancocelesti youth ranks. On Sunday the 31-year-old will return to his old surroundings as struggling Milan travel to the Stadio Olimpico for the Serie A evening kick-off.

“It always pleases me to return to Rome to play against Lazio in the Stadio Olimpico,” said Nesta. “Every time I come back it rekindles some of my old memories.

“This Lazio team is different to the one I played in. There are some very good players who work very hard as a team and they have a tactical manager also.

“They are very good as a collective unit. However the Lazio team I played in was great, full of big name players.

“Now I am at Milan and I will stay here until my contract runs out and then I will return home and get on with my life.”

Nesta has had a glittering career thus far, winning two Scudetti, two Champions League titles, one Cup Winners Cup and three Italian Cups. He also earned 78 caps for the Azzurri and was part of the 2006 World Cup winning squad.
