The Blaugrana earned a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the Copa del Rey tie in the Sánchez Pizjuán after a goal apiece in the first of the encounter.
Thierry Henry put Barça ahead only for Diego Capel to level matters shortly before half-time.
"The team has played well and had a good game, above all when Sevilla put us under intense pressure in the second half," Rijkaard explained.
"We worked very hard, but we were unable to win the ball occasionally and cause them problems when we wanted another goal, as well as giving them time to reorganise.
"It was not that we lacked too much, just a little confidence and courage, but it is a good result and I have to congratulate the player.
"Analysing the game, I would say that it is a good result."
Henry was heavily involved throughout for Barcelona and Rijkaard was delighted with the Frenchman's display as he continues to find full fitness.
"He had more freedom today and did very well," he added.
