Abidal has endured mixed fortunes since joining from Lyon last summer for a fee of €14million, with a string of inconsistent performances indicating that he has struggled to fully adapt himself to the Spanish game.
With Guardiola set to replace Frank Rijkaard as coach for next season, Abidal is clearly worried about whether his performances this year have been good enough to see him included in the plans of the new coach.
"When there is a change of coach you never know. It is a situation that I have already gone through one before with Didier Deschamps at Monaco," he told 'Sport'.
"If the coach doesn't trust you then you must pack your suitcases... but I hope that is not the case."
Thierry Henry confirmed to 'Sport' on Friday that he had already talked with Guardiola and had been told that he had a future at the club and so Abidal is slightly concerned by the fact that he was not involved in a similar meeting.
"Deschamps did not speak with me at the time, so it cannot be a good signal. When I arrive for pre-season will, I presume, be the first time I talk with [Guardiola]," he concluded.
