He's not kicked a ball in anger since June 21st, but Barcelona captain Carles Puyol is on the road to recovery, and could be back in action by early October...
Barcelona captain Carles Puyol could be back in the blaugrana within a month if his recovery continues apace.
The veteran centre-back returned to physical training for the first time today, joining an internationally-depleted Barca squad on the training pitch at La Masia.
While he's yet to begin training with the ball, a return to the turf is more than welcome for the man who missed a whole pre-season, as well as Barcelona's two league games thus far.
The likes of Marquez, Milito and Oleguer have been scrapping it out for the two centre-back slots, but if Puyol's recovery follows its predicted trajectory, one will step aside sooner rather than later, probably in time for Matchday 7's visit from Atletico Madrid.
