As big clubs become richer and the wealth of talent within their squads get deeper, squad rotation is becoming a more widespread.
The policy is beneficial wherein it keeps the squad fresh, but can be damaging in the sense that there is a lack of continuity within the starting XI.
Van Persie enjoys the familiarity of his Arsenal team-mates and feels it benefits the way they play.
“I like the fact that we play together week in, week out,” he said after the victory at Steaua Bucharest. “Some teams switch - for example Liverpool - that is OK if they choose that.
“But when Cesc gets the ball I know what he is thinking about. When Ade gets the ball I know what I can do for him. Everybody knows their part.
“We played Saturday and then Tuesday and now Sunday this week. It will be physical and hard, But we think we can win things this way.”
