AC Milan Defender Alessandro Nesta: The Pressure Is On Juventus To Beat Us

AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has suggested Juventus are feeling the pressure more than the Rossoneri this season, following their big summer spending.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match, when Milan will travel to Turin to face Juve, the Italian international told Sky Italia, “Perhaps their recruitment drive has added a little pressure on them, because people expect more, because of all the money they have spent.”

The Bianconeri spent over €40 million on midfield duo Diego from Werder Bremen and Felipe Melo from Serie A rivals Fiorentina, while Milan's only real signing of financial note was Dutch striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

Nesta went on to say that he felt the Rossoneri have recovered from their shaky start to the season and recent results have proved what a good side they are.

"After a so-so start,” he said, “we proved that this team is still competitive."

Finally, the defender affirmed the importance of Sunday’s encounter, "It could be the most important, because if we win we take points from Juventus...”

Milan currently sit second in Serie A, one point ahead of Juve with a game in hand.
